ARTIST RESUME

Reisha Felix (ReiCreations Art)

Summary

I began painting after a friend introduced me to a sip-and-paint event several years ago. That experience reignited my creative curiosity, leading me to explore and experiment with various mediums, from traditional paint to digital art and mixed media. This journey of discovery has shaped me into the artist I am today.
My artistic practice is deeply rooted in my Afro-Caribbean upbringing and culture, with a particular focus on celebrating the beauty of Black hair and its significance in shaping identity for many of African and Afro-diasporic descent. I primarily work with acrylic paints and hot glue, using the latter to create my signature textured hair in figurative portraits of Black individuals.
I am incredibly honored that my digital design has been selected for the Region of Durham’s 2025 Black History Month campaign, where it is being featured as a bus wrap and on all promotional material. I was also featured on CTV news to speak about the collaboration and my practice. I’m also proud to have had my pieces showcased in exhibitions throughout the GTA and my works privately collected throughout Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Africa. One of my most fulfilling projects was painting two murals at a hostel in Tanzania, East Africa, towards the end of 2024.
