Artventure:
In lieu of the typical waterfall and sunrise painting, this art work inserts the female head between two mountains. Face tilted towards the sky, she takes the place of the rising sun while her bountiful curls tumble down the mountains, taking the place of a waterfall.
Glue gunned mountain ridges and sunrays, along with colourful knife strokes in the sky, add lots of texture to this piece. Arise speaks to every Black woman, or anyone who has felt like they are less than, or not worthy. It challenges them to realize that they are one with nature and they do not need to wait on anyone to shine a light on them, that the light is within them, that they are the sun and all they have to do is rise.
